SERIOUS ABOUT SAFETY
Our beloved city is struggling. Despite San Francisco having a nearly $15 billion budget, we face unprecedented challenges — a tragic homelessness crisis, unacceptable open-air drug markets, organized retail theft threatening our businesses, auto-burglary rings targeting tourists and residents and a deadly fentanyl and drug addiction epidemic.
It’s time for an honest conversation about solutions — not politics, scare tactics or pointing fingers. You were promised that a recall would make you safe. You were told that by arresting drug users — not drug dealers — drug use would go down, car break-ins would go down, retail theft would go down and your families would be safer. Instead, our city has become less safe.
Under the current DA, businesses across San Francisco are closing up shop, violent crime has risen, robberies are skyrocketing and we saw our deadliest year in history for drug overdoses. Putting us all at risk, the Mayor’s handpicked District Attorney has made our safety a battleground for political gain — eliminating programs that were proven to make us safer to appease a political base and irresponsibly adding to the backlog of cases.
As a city of innovation, we should follow the science and implement evidence-based solutions to put people on the right track and prevent future crime. Ryan is a criminal prosecutor and Deputy District Attorney who knows what works. Instead of playing the blame game, he will hold people accountable to keep the public safe while expanding the rehabilitative programs that are proven to reduce crime.
Ryan will:
• Put Prosecutors, Police and Prevention Experts Together, Not Point Fingers.
• Focus Limited Courtroom Resources on Violent Crime and Repeat Offenders.
• Bring Back the Data-Driven Prevention Programs That Reduce Crime.
• Support Victims and Survivors of Crime with Robust Services and Care.
• Implement Evidence-Based Drug Policy, Not Fear Tactics.
• Re-Establish the Sensible Juvenile Justice Programs That Worked.
• Improve Our Policing and Bring Back Neighborhood Prosecutors.
• Get Tough on Corruption, Holding Everyone Accountable Before the Law.

From his respected career prosecuting violent crimes, supporting victims, getting justice-involved youth back on track and working closely with the police as a Deputy District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney, to his work to combat anti-AAPI hate crimes as a longtime San Francisco Immigrant Rights Commissioner – fighting for real safety for our city isn’t new to Ryan, it’s his life’s work.
Ryan’s career as a prosecutor and personal life experience have uniquely prepared him for the job of DA. At a young age, Ryan lost a family member to an armed robbery-turned-homicide. This sparked a lifelong devotion to reducing crime, ending gun violence and improving public safety – ultimately leading him to become a prosecutor. Ryan has prosecuted misdemeanors, felonies and juvenile delinquency cases. He has reviewed warrants for the police, handled Collaborative and treatment courts, prosecuted probation and parole violations and secured over a million dollars in restitution orders for victims of crime.
It’s time for a better way on public safety. Ryan Khojasteh will lead the way as our next DA.
